The focus of the team for the 2005 racing season was to successfully complete races and to document the track/vehicle data. Each track is very different and recording the track/vehicle data helps the crew to set up the racecar with specific parameters for each raceway. There are several environmental factors (i.e. altitude, track surface and course configuration) which are recorded.
The season was void of mishaps until July. During a qualifying session at Watkins Glenn motor sports park, our car was involved in a one-car accident, resulting in multiple cracks in the frame and the destruction of the body. After this incident the 2001 Red Devil racecar was purchased. The new car was bare to the frame and the team assembled it in three weeks to complete the remainder of the season. The culmination of 2005 was the National Championship Runoffs. The Runoff was held at the Mid-Ohio Raceway. Due to several complications and driver illness our time on the new track was limited to two 30-minute qualifying sessions. We managed to qualify 17th of 28 cars.
